Stanley Wyskiel - Benton, IL Stanley Wyskiel, 92, of Benton, IL, died at 3:45 p. m. Friday, July 12, 2013 at his home. Mr. Wyskiel was born on April 22, 1921 in Benton, IL the son of Jack Wiskell and Nellie (Gvazdar) Wiskell. He married the former Marjorie (Cunningham) Rice and she preceded him in death on April 25, 2009. Stanley was a retired coal miner and a member of the U.M.W.A. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in Normandy and the Rhineland. He attained the rank of Tec 5/E-5 and received three bronze battle stars. Stanley was a member of the Benton American Legion for 66 years and was also a member of the Benton V.F.W. He enjoyed carpentry work and gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving relatives include two daughters, Deborah (Ralph Shelton) Hayes, Benton, Terri (Ronnie) Jackson, Whittington, one son, Larry (Jackie) Wyskiel, Benton, a step-son, Charles (Ramona) Rice, Benton, five grandchildren, Daniel "Chip" (Barb Underwood) Hayes, West Frankfort, Larry (Stacy Craig) Hayes, Logan, Jeremy and Aaron Jackson, Whittington, Beth Ann (Wyskiel) Pheasant, Christopher, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Wyskiel was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Lisa Wyskiel, and the mother of his children, Imogene Woods Wyskiel. Visitation will be from 10:00 a. m. to Noon Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in Benton. Funeral services will be held at Noon Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Minor officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton. Military honors will be performed by the Benton American Legion and V.F.W. and the Marion National Guard Honor Squad.
