Susan (Smothers) Wilson - Benton, IL Susan (Smothers) Wilson, 64, of Benton, died at 2:42 p. m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at her home. Mrs. Wilson was born on January 1, 1949 in Benton the daughter of Clarence Smothers and Mildred (Scrutchfield) Smothers. She married Glen Wilson on May 17, 1997 and he preceded her in death on December 26, 2000. Susan will always be remembered as the caretaker, the peacemaker, and true friend to all who knew her. She believed in God and the power of his love. Susan enjoyed dancing and spending time with family, attending her grandchildrens ballgames and school events. She loved her dogs Dixie and Molly. Surviving relatives include two children, Kristina Rich, Benton, Steven (Cadence) Martin, West Frankfort, six grandchildren, Brock and Makenzie Rich, both of Benton, Natalie, Samantha, Sarah, and Kimberly, all of West Frankfort, three brothers, Jim Smothers, William "Bill" Smothers, Randy (Linda) Smothers, all of Benton, IL, two sisters, Sandra (Tom) Schmidt, Hays, KS, Debra (Leonard) Holthaus, Marion, IL, several nieces and nephews, and her two dogs Molly and Dixie. Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson, Brett Michael Rich, and one brother, David Gary Smothers. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2013 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home and Crematory in Benton. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a. m.
