Thelma J. McNeely, 79, of Christopher, passed away at 2:30 p.m., on Friday, July 14, 2017, at Herrin Hospital.
She was born on February 21, 1938, to Florence (Wootn) Farrow in Greenville, SC. Thelma worked as a home aide, nursing her patients through their illnesses. She married Woodrow McNeely and her precedes her in death.
Thelma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In her spare time she loved listening to gospel music, working on puzzles, playing cards and bingo.
Thelma is survived by her daughters, Becky Espinoza of Christopher, IL, and Cathy Cantu of Chicago, IL; nine grandchildren, Moria Foster, Tony Cantu, Tracy (Christopher) Ritenor, Kayla (Larry) Espinoza, Richard Espinoza, Jessica Espinoza, Monica (Chase) Mangrum, Jessica Palmer, and Donna Newcomb; and eleven great-grand children, David, Johnny, Christopher, Michael, Misael, Jr., Josiah, Michelle, Royal, Mahklah, Riley, and Nene.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Woodrow McNeely, mother, Florence (Wootn) Farrow, daughter, Kattie Torres, two brothers, Roy Farrow and James Farrow, and one sister, Hazel Shepherd.
Services have been entrusted to Pate Funeral Home at 301 S. Main Street, Benton, IL.
Per Thelma's wishes cremation will take place.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pate Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
