Theresa Ann Hartley, 68, of Murphysboro, IL, passed away at 6:55 a.m., on Sunday, December 25, 2016, at Herrin Hospital, Herrin IL.
She was born on January 27, 1948, to George and Dorothy (Warden) Topal in Granite City, IL. . Theresa worked as a cashier. She married John E. Hartley and he preceded her in death.
She enjoyed baking, cooking, crocheting and watching her favorite soap operas. Theresa had a passion for helping people.
Theresa is survived by her two daughters, Lynn Whitehouse and husband Michael and Brandy Topal; one granddaughter, Calyn Hartley and fiance Joe Devlin; a grandson, Billy McCay; two brothers, Joe Topal and Sonny Topal and three sisters, Kathleen Schmiz, Debbie Obear and husband Raymond and Jeannie Wilson and husband David.
She was preceded in death by parents, George and Dorothy Topal, husband, John E. Hartley, one granddaughter, Amanda House, one brother, Michael Topal, and two sisters, Mary Beth Topal and Vickie Myers.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Pate Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Benton IL.
Per Theresa's wishes cremation will take place.
Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses and will be accepted at the funeral home.
