Viola L. Gunter Harris - Christopher, IL Viola L. Gunter Harris, 93, of Christopher, IL, died at 8:25 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2011 at her home. Mrs. Harris was born on June 19, 1917 in West City, IL the daughter of Otto Sanders and Treasa (Sanders) Sanders. She married Harry "Tater" Gunter on June 27, 1933 and he preceded her in death December 21, 1951. She later married Allie Harris in June 1965 and he preceded her in death. Viola was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church between Benton and West Frankfort, IL. Surviving relatives include two sons, James Gunter and wife Peggy, Christopher, IL, Curtis Gunter and wife Connie, Benton, IL, nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, a daughter, Sharon Kays, a son, David Gunter, a grandson, Scott Kays, one brother, William "Dub" Sanders, and seven sisters, Verlie, Edna Mae, and Maxine Sanders, Pat Hopson, Velma Arnold, Norma Jeanine Eubanks, and Carolyn Barnett. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton, IL. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Marty Shadowen officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton, IL.
