Wanda L. SpencerKankakee, IL Wanda L. Spencer, 79, of Kankakee, died on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Presence St. Mary' Hospital in Kankakee. Mrs. Spencer was born on December 8, 1933 in Benton, IL the daughter of Lester Hayse and Virginia (Mandrell) Hayse. She married O.W. "Bill" Spencer and he preceded her in death. Wanda was a retired nurse at Presence St. Marys Hospital and Riverside in Kankakee and also at the Franklin Hospital in Benton. She also had worked at several area nursing homes, mainly Kankakee Nursing and Rehab. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and fishing with her grandchildren. Surviving relatives include two sons, Larry Atchison, Sesser, Ron and Michele Atchison, Bourbonnais, one daughter, Donna and Rich Yunkus, Benton, nine grandchildren including her grandson, Phillip, who had been her caregiver, six great-grandchildren, and one brother, Ralph and Bonnie Hayse, Big Sandy, TN. Mrs. Spencer was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son, Lloyd Dean Atchison. Visitation will be from 10:00 a. m. to 2:00 p. m. Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home in Kankakee followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p. m. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p. m.
