William "Bill" H. Mullins, 89, of Benton, IL, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at his residence.
He was born on October 4, 1926, in Hueysville, KY, to Robert and Leora (Bailey) Mullins. He married Mary (Preston) Mullins on July 12, 1947, and she preceded him in death.
Mr. Mullins served in the Navy during WW II in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. He worked for many years at Freeman United Coal Company. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, Mary, and later spending time on the golf course with his friends, gardening, and volunteering his time with the AARP Tax-Aide Foundation.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Jane Clark and husband, Jeff of Tallahassee, FL; daughter-in-law, Debi Mullins of Bakersfield, CA; four grandchildren, Kristen Clark of St. Petersburg, FL, Katelin Clark of Tallahassee, FL, Sean Mullins of Bakersfield, CA, and Paige Mullins of Sacramento, CA; one sister, Mildred Estridge of Willard, OH, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Leora Mullins, a son, David Mullins, and many brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 5, 2015, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory, Benton, IL.
Graveside services will be privately held with Pastor Lee Lovett officiating. Bill will be buried beside his loving wife, Mary, with whom he enjoyed 61 years of marriage.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Benton, IL, or to a charity of the donor's choice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
